Final Days

I've been wanting an ear cuff for a while now and found this cute one at Forever21!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Do/did you have any fun plans for the celebration? Friday night I got drinks with my boyfriend and some friends, but Saturday and Sunday I spent my time working on the new blog design and preparing for finals. Tonight I won't be going out, but I do plan on making a Tex-Mex dish for supper. That counts, right?

It's kind of surreal to think this is my final week as a student at Iowa State. I hate to keep bringing it up, but I'm in shock so I just want to keep talking about it as if that will make it slow down! The last four years have literally flown by. I still remember moving into the dorms the very first dayand thinking that I had all the time in the world to figure out what I wanted to do. Graduation sounded so far away. There were days it felt like it would never end and graduation couldn't come soon enough, but overall I can't believe that four years have passed so quickly! I know everyone always talks about that, but I can't say it enough. So many of my days were wasted wishing for the summer or spring break, or whatever it was, and I really want to live in the moment and be happy with what I'm doing so I'm not wishing away time. I keep thinking about the next four years, and how they will probably fly by just as fast (if not faster) and where I'll be at that point in  my life. With my career, blogging, relationships, location…so many goals and changes ahead with no idea where life is about to lead me. I'm excited to see what lies ahead. One of my personal goals is to embark on more adventures. Blogging is nothing without experiences and stories to share, so I'm on a quest to try new things -- beginning with a trip to LA! My older sister is attending the Generation Beauty by Ipsy for work and asked if I wanted to come. I couldn't pass up on a chance to see LA and talk about all things beauty with the top beauty bloggers!

My favorite eyeshadow palette from IT Cosmetics. The colors are gorgeous for spring!

Do you have any advice for recent graduates as we enter the "real world"? What do you wish you knew before graduating?

I'm sharing a few snapshots of my life at this moment. Since I have to be out of my apartment by the end of the month, my place is a bit of a mess right now as I get organized and start to pack things up and get rid of things. Over the past month or two I was consciously trying not to acquire new decor or things that take up lots of space (besides clothing), while going through my closet and selling the items that I no longer wear. I can't wait to move and get settled into a new home and start up on lots of decorating posts again!

Pretty shoes for half off.

Loving blues for spring.

Picked up some supplies for an upcoming DIY! Can you guess what it is?

  1. take time to enjoy graduation day, take it all in and don't let anyone rush you through it. after the ceremony is over, or before which ever you have time for take pictures, lots of them with your family, friends, campus, whatever. take it in and remember it. i remember rushing through after the ceremony and trying to get out of there that i didn't take any pictures with my family and now look back and wish i hadn't been in such a hurry.

    1. Thank you for that reminder! I will definitely try to take lots of pictures and soak in the moment. It's hard to believe it's actually happening, and I want to remember it forever!
